UK’s Maiden Trip To New Delhi:
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will make his inaugural visit to India to participate in the G20 Summit. He will be accompanied by NSA Tim Barrow, who will also attend the crucial summit discussions.
The UK delegation, including Sunak and Barrow, will contribute to efforts to reach a joint communique at the G20 Summit. Achieving consensus may be challenging due to differences related to Russia and China’s positions.
Bilateral Investment Treaty:
Sunak and Prime Minister Modi are expected to sign a bilateral investment treaty parallel to the Free Trade Agreements (FTA) between the UK and India. Trade treaty negotiations have been ongoing, with India also hosting the G20 Trade and Investment Ministerial Meeting in August.
