The actor who will be next seen in Disney Plus Hotstar’s Showtime revealed that he has stopped watching movies and does not like the films that are being made and added that he feels ‘disappointed’ to see how people take pride in Hindi cinema being a 100-years-old. Questioning the lack of substance in Hindi films, Shah also said that very soon people would be bored watching the same kind of films. “It really disappoints me that we take pride in saying Hindi cinema is 100 years old but we have been making the same films. I have stopped watching Hindi films, I don’t like them at all,” the actor said.

Sharing a word of wisdom for filmmakers the Gehraiyaan actor also said that the only hope for Hindi cinema to gain its lost glory is if filmmakers stop seeing it as a means of making money. Pointing out that there is no solution if people keep watching these kinds of movies, he advised ‘serious filmmakers’ to responsibly show today’s reality in a way that they don’t get in trouble with ED or have any fatwas coming their way.

“There is hope for Hindi cinema only if we stop seeing them as a means to make money. But I feel it’s too late now. There is no solution any more because the films that are being watched by thousands will keep being produced and people will keep watching them, God knows till when. So those who want to make serious films, it’s their responsibility to show today’s reality and in such a way that they don’t get a fatwa, or the ED doesn’t come knocking on their doors,” Shah said.
