“Aap inko (Vishnu Deo Sai) vidhayak banado, unko bada aadmi banane ka kaam hum karenge (you make him MLA, we will make him a big man),” Shah had said
After over a week of suspense, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday named former Union Minister Vishnu Deo Sai as its pick for the post of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister. After the announcement, CM-designate Sai met Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan in Raipur and staked the claim to form the government in the state.
As Sai’s supporters in Raipur busted firecrackers to celebrate the party’s decision, an old clip of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally has surfaced on social media indicating the 59-year-old tribal leader for BJP’s choice for the top post in Chhattisgarh all along.
The video clip is from Shah’s rally during the BJP’s campaigning for the Chhattisgarh Assembly election last month.
Shah, while addressing a rally in the Kunkuri, the constituency from where Sai was elected as a legislator, urged voters to elect him, promising to make the latter a “big man” (bada Aadmi) if the party comes back to power in the state.
“Aap inko (Vishnu Deo Sai) vidhayak banado, unko bada aadmi banane ka kaam hum karenge (you make him MLA, we will make him a big man),” Shah had said.
MotaBhai @AmitShah ji had given clear signals in his rally in Chhattisgarh that “आप विष्णु देव जी को विधायक बना दो उनको बड़ा आदमी बनाने का काम हम करेंगे।The rest all are seeing that today @vishnudsai ji has been elected as the Chief Minister. Sai won the seat by defeating sitting Congress MLA UD Minj by a margin of 25,541 votes. Kunkuri constituency falls in the state’s Surguja division where the BJP won all 14 segments.
Sai is considered a prominent tribal leader in Chhattisgarh, who emerged from the grassroots and reached the ranks of Union Minister before becoming the Chief Minister.
