It doesn’t matter if you are team Kong or team Godzilla, because the latest ‘Godzilla x Kong’ film has something for fans of both these Monsterverse Titans. Derived from its predecessors, director Adam Wingard sets up a monster-verse like never before. For anyone who has followed these warring giants in prequels leading up to the big collab, the best is saved for the latest release. From the VFX, fight scenes to the emotional trajectory of Kong and Jia (Kaylee Hottle), everything is amplified over 10 times.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire offers a divergent take on the MonsterVerse, albeit with mixed results. While its action-packed sequences and charismatic performances provide moments of excitement, the film struggles to find its footing amidst a disjointed narrative and underdeveloped themes. Ultimately, The New Empire falls short of its predecessors’ cohesive vision, leaving audiences craving a more focused exploration of the iconic monsters and the world they inhabit.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire knows what it is and actually excels at it by delivering a spectacular film full of fun set pieces, amazing visual effects, and enough emotional bits to keep you engaged on almost every level. The story might be too simple for some, but this helps the movie to keep focus on what is really important, and while this is not a movie you will remember for its character, you will definitely remember the moments for just how fun they are. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is nothing transcendental, but we need more movies that are willing to be good old fun entertainment and nothing more.
