A taxi driver from Delhi was shot at by suspected terrorists in a village of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Monday night.

Kashmir News: A non-local taxi driver sustained bullet injuries after he was shot at by suspected terrorists in the restive Shopian district of southern Kashmir on Monday night. According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, terrorists fired upon a man identified as Paramjit Singh in Heerpora area of in Padpawan village of the south Kashmir district at around 9 PM on Monday.

Singh, who lives in Delhi but is originally a resident of Dehradun in Uttarakhand, received multiple bullet wounds in the attack, was rushed to the local district hospital, from where he was referred to a hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment, the police said, adding that his condition is stated to be stable.

Following the attack, the area where Paramjit Singh was shot by the terrorists, was cordoned off the police and other security agencies and a hunt was launched to nab the attackers, officials said, adding that the gunmen fled the scene under the cover of darkness after the shooting.

As per the police, the victim, Paramjit Singh is a taxi driver living in Delhi but originally resides in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

“A non-local taxi driver was shot by terrorists with a handgun. A case has been registered and investigation is underway to identify and nab the attackers. The area has has been cordoned off,” an official said.

Reports said overnight searches were conducted by joint teams of local police , CRPF, and the Army in a bid to trace the whereabouts of the attackers.
