New Delhi: At a time when rumours state the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024 will be announced on April 28 or 29, fresh reports suggest the BCCI is most likely to hold a press conference on May 2 in Mumbai to announce the final 15-member squad. It also states that the BCCI selection committee which consists of Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, Sridharan Sharath and chief selector Ajit Agarkar along with secretary Jay Shah will be meeting on Tuesday in Ahmedabad.

India head coach Rahul Dravid is also likely to be present in the meeting. India captain Rohit Sharma will not be present in the meeting in person as he is currently with the Mumbai Indians franchise in Lucknow to play their IPL 2024 encounter against Lucknow Super Giants.

While the team is almost finalized, there are certain spots that need discussions. The ICC’s deadline for the final submission of teams is May 1 and it is understood that the BCCI will be sending the final squad to ICC before time. However, BCCI will hold a press conference in the presence of Rohit and Agarkar to announce which 15 players are boarding the flight to USA and West Indies.

Earlier, Agarkar met with Rohit and hand an informal meeting with the Indian captain after Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals in the National Capital on Sunday.
