Pune Porsche accident: Father of minor involved in crash detained from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar | Pune News

Two days after two young software engineers were killed after a speeding Porsche car, allegedly being driven by a 17-and-a-half-year-old boy, rammed into their motorcycle, the Pune police on Tuesday detained the minor’s father, a prominent realtor in the city.

Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar told The Indian Express the father, who was on the run after being booked under the Juvenile Justice Act, was detained from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and was being brought back to the city for further probe.

The father has been booked under the provision of sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act on the charges of allowing his minor son to drive the Porsche and consume liquor.

Amitesh Kumar said on Monday that the police have evidence, including the CCTV footage from two restaurants, which indicates the boy had been drinking with friends late on Saturday.

According to the Pune police, the minor accused told them his father knew he was consuming liquor. “Upon inquiry, the minor has said his father had handed over the grey Porsche to him despite knowing that he had no driver’s training and did not have a driver’s licence. He has also said his father allowed him to party with his friends and that his father was aware that he was consuming alcohol,” said the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the police in the Pune Porsche accident case.
