Rajkummar Rao is all set to appear alongside Janhvi Kapoor in Mr. & Mrs. Mahi. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film revolves around a married couple with a mutual love for cricket. In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Rajkummar shared his process.

Opening up about going the extra mile with every new film, Rajkummar Rao shared, “I try and choose different scripts and different characters to play but how I get into it is tough to put into words. The process shifts from film to film. With Mr. & Mrs, Mahi we sat with Sharan Sharma to discuss our characters and our relationship. We also discussed my relationship with my father. That helps a lot.”

Reflecting on his versatile filmography, he further added, “It depends on the character and how you make it special. For a film like Srikanth, there’s a lot of extra hard work that goes into it. It’s a true story and a character with a physical trait. So you have to imbibe that in real life. But then there are films like Stree where you just have to have fun with your co-stars. You get to improvise. Of course, you keep the backstory alive. But it’s more about enjoying the scene. With Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, it’s a human drama. So the effort was to keep it layered and get people to relate to their story.” 

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi which also features Zarina Wahab, Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma and more, releases in theatres on May 31, 2024.
