On Wednesday, a special Air India chartered flight arrived at Barbados Airport to bring Team India and stranded media personnel home to India. Men in Blue have been stuck in Barbados after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 due to Hurricane Beryl, a category 4 hurricane.
A video by ANI showed Indian cricketers and others boarding the special flight. “Indian cricket team leave from Barbados. The team will reach Delhi on July 4, early morning,” ANI wrote on X.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) arranged the special flight for the cricketers and their families, coaches, and media personnel. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla first informed about the board arranging a special chartered flight from Barbados on Wednesday evening, and said that BCCI secretary Jay Shah is monitoring the whole situation.

In an earlier video shared by ANI, the aircraft can be seen parked at Barbados Airport. “A special flight of Air India lands at Barbados Airport. Team India will fly back to the country on this flight,” ANI wrote on X.

Reacting to the video, a user commented, “This operation should cost the BCCI at least Rs 3.5Cr. Considering the ROI of the tournament, it’s only fair, I guess?” Another user wrote, “The visuals looks as if the flight is inside the office.”
“Champions are coming back,” a third user reacted. “Bring our warriors back home safely !!!” another user wrote.
On Monday, broadcaster Sanjana Ganesan shared an Instagram story from Barbados, showing her husband Jasprit Bumrah cautiously looking out of the window amid Hurricane Beryl. In another video, Virat Kohli was seen on a video call with his actor wife Anushka Sharma. The viral video showed him giving the actor a glimpse of the hurricane in Barbados.
According to CNN, at least seven people lost their lives to the intense hurricane. Countless homes and buildings were destroyed as the hurricane moved toward the Caribbean.
