The Opposition in poll bound Maharashtra on Tuesday slammed the Union budget claiming it did not even mention the word “Maharashtra” and the central government was instead focused on handing out packages to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
“The budget has proven that the central government is anti Maharashtra. While Maharashtra pays the highest tax to the centre, it has not made any significant allocation to the state. The government has merely lifted the promises Congress had made in its Nyay Patra during the Lok Sabha polls,” said Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar.

Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray also slammed the BJP for giving Bihar and Andhra Pradesh priority in the budget and avoiding Maharashtra.
“It looks like the Prime Minister Modi has started “dislike Maharashtra” scheme. In the past ten years, the BJP looted Maharashtra but always disappointed the state in every union budget. How much injustice Maharashtra will have to tolerate now? Until there are people in Maharashtra who bow down to Delhi, this injustice will continue. Maharashtra has to pay the price for the unconstitutional government in the state,” Uddhav said.
“I can understand the bjp wanting to save its government and giving Bihar and Andhra Pradesh a huge sum of the budget. But what is Maharashtra’s fault?
That we are the largest taxpayer? What did we get against what we contribute?
Was Maharashtra even mentioned once in the budget?” Asked Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray, adding why does the bjp hate and insult Maharashtra so much? He said that going by the previous promises of this government, even Bihar and Andhra Pradesh may not get what has been promised.
Thackeray termed it a shame that ‘despite unconstitutionally forming a government and running the most corrupt regime in our state, Maharashtra gets nothing in return.’
NCP(SP) leader and Baramati Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule said Bihar and Andhra pradesh were given priority over Maharashtra in the union budget. “I have no issue over Bihar and Andhra Pradesh getting funds, but the injustice towards Maharashtra is evident,” she said.
Sule said the NDA has two consitutents from Maharashtra. “They should be questioned about their views on the budget. I haven’t had the chance to meet their leaders yet, but what has Maharashtra done to warrant such neglect in the budget?” She said.
Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh said the budget presented by the Modi government once again neglects the needs of the common man and it only aims to ensure stability by catering to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, the two props of the Modi government.
“Modi government has tried to politicise temples once again through this budget. The budget emphasises temple tourism, particularly Hindu temples in Bihar and Odisha, while completely excluding Maharashtra, which, despite its rich heritage of ancient and renowned temples, has been neglected due to the BJP’s bias towards the state. It also does not include any pilgrimage sites belonging to minority communities including Muslims. Like the state government, the Modi government has continued to discriminate against Muslims in this scheme,” Shaikh said.
