NIRF Ranking 2024, Top Universities in India Live: The Ministry of Education will announce the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 today. In its ninth edition, the ranking framework evaluates institutions on five broad parameters — teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception.

The higher educational institutes are listed under 13 categories — overall, universities, medical, engineering, management, law, architecture, colleges, research institutions, pharmacy, dental, agriculture and allied sectors, and innovation. Last year, as many as 5,543 higher education institutions participated in the NIRF.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras continued to bag the top spot for the fifth consecutive year, while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has been ranked as the best university. IIT-Madras has also been ranked as the best engineering college for the past 8 years. In the management category, IIM-Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta are among the top five.

11 of 18 IISc subjects see drop in QS ranking

In the universities category, IISc Bengaluru bagged the top spot last year, followed by JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia at the second and third ranks. The trio have been ranked in the top 10 positions since 2016. Among colleges, Miranda House, Hindu College and Presidency College-Chennai retained the first, second and third positions. In the medical category, AIIMS Delhi remains at number 1 position.
