Kamal Haasan, fondly known as Ulaganayakan, is not just known for his movies but is also known for his straightforward nature. The actor, who has always maintained that any kind of art including movies is something that inspires people and has the ability to bring about change, has also opened up about it and several other political and social thoughts as well as ideologies in his columns which would be published in magazines. And now we hear that a compilation of the same will be presented in the form of a book.

Kamal Haasan’s old articles to be revived after more than three decades

For the unversed, Kamal Haasan has written a few thought-provoking articles and columns in a magazine named ‘Maiam’ in 1987. The magazine was started for the actor’s fans with the objective of engaging them in social progress and good deeds and Kamal Haasan wrote several articles and columns for it between 1987 and 1990. Over three decades later, the works are being revived by Kamal Panpattu Maiyam in the form of a book titled ‘Maiam- Selected Works’.

“It’s a book initiated by Kamal Haasan can be purchased at all publishing stalls at the Chennai Book Fair and the contact details of the same are mentioned on Kamal Panpattu’s Twitter handle,” reveals a source.  Apart from Kamal Haasan, the book also contains features and articles from other acclaimed writers.

Currently, the actor is dabbling between his film and political career. Last seen in the blockbuster Vikram, the actor will be reuniting with renowned filmmaker S Shankar for the social drama Indian 2, which will feature him in the role of an old freedom fighter turned vigilante Senapathy and will also star Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and Siddharth in key roles. The film is slated to release in 2024 but date and other details are eagerly awaited.
