1. Surat Diamond Bourse

Surpassing the Pentagon’s area by almost 55,000 square feet, this bourse functions as a global centre for both rough and polished diamonds, as well as jewellery.

The Surat Diamond Bourse, located in Gujarat, India, is a major hub for the diamond industry. It covers a large area of 622,450 square meters, has 15 floors and around 65,000 employees. 

Equipped with modern facilities and consisting of a Customs Clearance House for Import-Export, jewellery mall for retail jewellery business, and provisions for International Banking and safe vaults, the Surat Diamond Bourse, located near Surat city, houses over 4,700 diamond trading offices.

Spanning 35.54 acres, the Surat Diamond Bourse aims to promote the import, export, and trading of diamonds, gems, and jewellery from India.

2. The Pentagon

Located in Arlington, US, The Pentagon serves as the headquarters of the United States Department of Defence, including all three military services—the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It spans a large area of 603,869 square meters with 5 floors (excluding its mezzanine and basement) and has around 23,000 employees.

Constructed during 1941–43, the Pentagon aimed to bring together the offices of the War Department, which were previously spread across 17 different locations in Washington.

In 2001, during the 9/11 attacks, on the 60th anniversary of the Pentagon’s groundbreaking, terrorists hijacked a commercial airliner and crashed it into the building. This resulted in the destruction of part of the southwest side. Despite this, the majority of the damage was fixed within a year.

The Pentagon proudly claimed the title of the world’s largest office building for almost 80 years. However, it was eventually surpassed by the one and only Surat Diamond Bourse in India, which now holds the number one position.

3. FCA US LLC Headquarters and Technology Center

Once called Chrysler World Headquarters and Technology Center (CTC), FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) US, LLC, is doing business as Stellantis North America, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

It is involved in designing, engineering, manufacturing, distributing, and selling vehicles. The headquarters covers an area of 325,160 square meters with 15 floors and has about 11,000 employees.

The company offers passenger cars, utility vehicles, mini-vans, trucks, and commercial vans, along with the distribution of automotive service parts and accessories, primarily serving clients in the United States.

4. The Exchange 106

Formerly known as Signature Tower, construction began seven years ago in 2016 and was completed in 2019. The Exchange 106 is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, covering an area of 453,835 square meters and consists of 106 floors.

Notably, it stands as a prominent structure in a development tied to the 1MDB financial controversy, which shook the country and led to criminal charges against its former prime minister for money laundering and abuse of power.

5. Willis Tower

Formerly known as the Sears Tower, construction began in 1970, and it took 3 years to complete by 1973. Willis Tower is the premier corporate office building and home to more than 100 companies, including prominent law, insurance, transportation, and financial services.

Located in Chicago, United States, it offers a space of about 4.3 million square meters, has 110 floors, and over 13,000 employees.

With a construction cost exceeding $175 million, it has over 16,000 square feet of conference rooms. It held the title of the world’s tallest building for almost 25 years until the World Trade Center was built.

Every year, over 1.7 million people visit the Willis Tower, making it one of the top tourist destinations in Chicago.
