Aanvi wasn’t shooting a reel when she slipped into a gorge 300 foot from the waterfall
The incident happened on July 16, 2024, while Aanvi was trekking at the famous Kumbhe waterfall in Mahrashtra’s Raigad district. She was accompanied by seven friends. Aanvi often documented monsoon scenes, and she loved traveling. One of her friends took to her Instagram stories, and wrote:
“In today’s age and time. Everybody clicks photos and videos, not only creators. No one is better than the other. Millions of people go to this waterfall every monsoon, this could have been you. The probability of someone’s foot slipping off this waterfall is low. Yet it happened and all the media houses can talk about how Aanvi passed away while shooting for a reel. She wasn’t even carrying her phone. Please do not fall for the sensationalist version of her death.”
Aanvi’s rescue operation took six hours to complete due to continuous rain
When the incident happened, her friends alerted the local authorities, who quickly jumped into action. Along with the rescue team and Maharashtra State Electricity Board Staff. In an interaction with NDTV, a rescuer. said:
“As soon as we reached the spot, we realised that the girl has fallen nearly 300-350 feet. Even after reaching her, it was difficult to get her up, as she was injured and it was raining heavily. So we decided to get her out using a vertical pulley.”
The rescuers further revealed how the rescue operation took six hours as large stones kept falling down the gorge. The continuous rain further complicated the rescue process. She suffered serious injuries and died during treatment at the hospital. People on social media are concluding that it was Aanvi’s careless mistake of filming a reel near the waterfall, but she was simply doing what she loved. On top of it, she didn’t even had a phone. And it could have happened to anyone. After this incident, the authorities have asked tourists to be extra cautious near the waterfalls.
We wish Aanvi Kamdar’s family and friends a lot of strength!
