Over 2,000 personnel on the ground, heavy barricading around the venue, live monitoring through drones: The Delhi Police made elaborate security arrangements for the INDIA bloc’s rally at Ramlila Maidan Sunday.
According to a senior police officer, nearly 2,000 personnel from police stations in Central Delhi and others were deployed on the periphery and inside the ground. Heavy frisking was carried out at three entry points to the venue. Personnel were spread out at strategic locations to avert any possible law and order situation, officers said.

DCP (Central) Harsh Vardhan said police officers deployed at the spot were specifically briefed to secure important leaders of the parties present at the venue.
Officers said drones were also used to keep an eye on anyone trying to violate norms.
“Several drones were deployed at the spot as per protocol. Frisking of baggage through baggage checking machines and door scanners was carried out to ensure no weapon or non-permitted object was carried into the venue,” said the DCP.
Joint CP-level officers were supervising security arrangements while CCTV cameras installed in nearby buildings were also being monitored.
Several traffic diversions were also in place on important roads such as Rajghat Chowk, Minto Road, DDU Marg, Paharganj Chowk and Delhi Gate. Outside the Maidan, traffic police personnel were deployed to ensure there were no snarls. A parking plan was also chalked out by police, in coordination with the traffic force, to ensure there is no congestion around the spot.
A senior traffic police officer said no major traffic disruptions were observed around Ramlila Maidan; alighting points and parking were supervised by traffic inspectors.
