Akshay Kumar launched the trailer of his upcoming action extravaganza Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff in Mumbai on Tuesday. At the trailer launch event, Akshay spoke about his expectations from Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial and reacted to his recent films like Selfiee and Mission Raniganj not finding the audience.
When asked if he feels Bade Miyan Chote Miya will break the chain of consecutive box office flops, Akshay said, “I am keeping my fingers crossed, I hope so!”

Akshay, who is synonymous with the “box office king” tag owing to the overwhelming success rate of his movies over the years, has been experiencing a lull with seven of his recent films doing less than expected. While discussing how he’s giving it his all to make sure his films are a success, Akshay, at the trailer launch event, said, “We keep on trying for every type of film. I don’t stick to one kind of genre. I keep on jumping from one genre to another, whether there is success or no success, that’s how I have always worked. I’ll keep on doing it… something that is social, something that is good, something in comedy, in action.”

Akshay then also revealed how he’s often told to stick to comedies and action films because that’s the kind of films that are working today. However, Akshay said he tries doing different genres of films because doing the same types of films “bores” him.
He said, “I will always keep on doing different kinds of (work). I won’t be sticking to one kind of thing just because people say, ‘sir, aaj kal comedy and action bohot chal rahe hai (I am told comedy and action is working these days)’. It doesn’t mean I should only do action. I myself start getting bored if I do one kind of thing. Whether it was Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, whether it is Airlift or Rustom, or many other films that I have done; sometimes success is there, sometimes it’s not.”
Akshay, while talking about some of his recent films not doing well, was reminded of the phase in his career where he had 16 back-to-back flops.

He shared, “It is not that I have not seen (this phase before), there was a time when I had 16 consecutive flops in my career. But I stood there and kept on doing work and I’ll still do that. This is one film this year for which we all have done lots of hard work and now we are going to see the results. We hope this is going to bring good luck to all of us.”
Akshay’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan also stars Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F. It is scheduled to release on Eid, April 10.
