Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is actively working to make the state digitally savvy. In a significant move toward this goal, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Meta Platforms Inc. to improve public service delivery using WhatsApp Business and AI technologies.

This partnership aims to enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and citizen-centric nature of government services by enabling communication between citizens and the government through WhatsApp.

The initiative will initially target sectors such as education and skilling, with plans to expand into other areas.

Meta’s generative AI, including its open-source Llama technology, will help develop e-governance solutions to streamline processes, improve transparency, and reduce the risks of document tampering.

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted that this collaboration supports the state’s vision of user-friendly and accessible governance.

Meta India’s VP Sandhya Devanathan noted that the partnership will democratise access to AI models and enhance governance through digital innovations.

This MoU is part of a broader digital transformation initiative, aiming to offer 100 key government services via WhatsApp by November 2024.

The collaboration seeks to improve public services in various areas, including land records, civil supplies, education, and transportation, benefiting millions of citizens.

This announcement follows Nara Lokesh’s recent statement that the state will implement a ‘digital twin’ for every cabinet minister within the next 100 days.

This innovative project aims to use artificial intelligence (AI) to create digital counterparts that analyse social interactions and feedback to help ministers make informed decisions.
