Anil Kapoor reveals Amitabh Bachchan paved the way to protect personality rights in Bollywood

Anil Kapoor who recently sought to protect his personal rights, including his name, voice, signature, dialogue, and image legally, acknowledged Amitabh Bachchan as the first Bollywood celebrity to secure his personality rights.

In an interview with a leading news portal, Anil talked about his rights as an actor and said, “You have to protect the bodywork, the kind of person you have, your family and yourself.” He further gave all the credit regarding the same to Amitabh Bachchan.

He went on to say that there is a long journey ahead, and he is committed to doing his best while championing his rights as a person, performer, individual and an Indian citizen.

Anil Kapoor had previously won a legal case to protect his personal rights, including his name, voice, image, likeness, manner of speaking, gestures, and even his famous “jhakaas” catchphrase. The Delhi High Court banned the unauthorised use of these elements for commercial purposes.

After the actor took legal action, the Delhi High Court issued a directive to prevent the misuse of his distinctive features. The actor explained that he filed the lawsuit because his personal traits were being misused in several instances, which prompted him to take legal action.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Anil Kapoor is currently gearing up for the release of Siddharth Anand’s Fighter, co-starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. The aerial action is slated to release on January 25, 2024.
