From potted roses to artistic bouquets — a wide variety of roses are in full bloom at the All India Winter Rose Show, officially opened by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Saturday at the India-Africa Friendship Rose Garden in Chanakyapuri.

The two-day floral spectacle celebrating the beauty of roses was arranged in partnership with The Rose Society of India, captivating many floral enthusiasts. Seventy varieties of roses across 85 exhibits, divided into 25 categories are on display, drawing participation from over 200 individuals and institutions nationwide.

Amidst the vibrant displays, more than 50 children engaged in an on-the-spot painting competition, channeling their creativity on the theme of roses.

Encouraging citizens to witness the floral extravaganza, NDMC Chairman Amit Yadav invited everyone to the Rose Show, which remains open until December 24, from 10 am to 4:30 pm. “It will be a unique opportunity, an informal get-together for rose lovers where they can share their experiences related to the care and growth of the flower, while enjoying the feast of colour and fragrance,” Yadav said.

The exhibits displayed the richness of rose varieties, including standard, floribunda, miniature, and an array of captivating colors like pink, red, apricot, and more. Pink, red, apricot, blue, yellow, orange, black, green, bi-colour, strips, blended fragrance and many more. Extending the event’s diversity were planters, cut flowers, value-added Rose products and artistic bouquets, button holes, garlands, gajrey that were displayed at the Rose Show.

A panel of scientists and rose experts evaluated the exhibits, lending their expertise from institutions like IARI, NBRI-Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, and Faridabad, ensuring a thorough assessment of the showcased varieties.
