BEML Secures Rs 867 Crore Order from Integral Coach Factory; Shares Close Flat

Shares of BEML Ltd. ended the day flat after hitting a day’s high of Rs 3,793.70 on 15th October. This followed the announcement of a major Rs 867 crore contract from the Integral Coach Factory for the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of two high-speed trainsets, each comprising 8 cars.

Each train car costs Rs 27.86 crore, and the total contract value is Rs 866.87 crore. This includes costs for design, one-time development, non-recurring charges, and expenses for jigs, fixtures, tooling, and testing facilities, which will be used for future high-speed rail projects in India.

BEML stated in a regulatory filing that this project marks a key milestone in India’s high-speed rail journey. It features the first indigenously designed and manufactured trainsets with a test speed of 280 mph.

The trainsets will be built at BEML’s Bengaluru rail coach complex, with delivery scheduled by the end of 2026.
The fully air-conditioned trains will feature a Chair Car configuration, offering modern amenities such as reclining and rotatable seats, provisions for passengers with restricted mobility, and onboard infotainment systems.

BEML added that this contract strengthens its position as a leader in rolling stock manufacturing and supports India’s vision for a faster, more efficient rail network.

At 3:30 PM, the shares of BEML closed 0.22% lower at Rs 3,720 on NSE.
