Bobby Deol imagined losing Sunny Deol to ‘bring that emotion’ for key shot in Animal: ‘My brother means the world to me’ | Bollywood News

Actor Bobby Deol has spoken about how emotional his entire family is, and in a recent interview, he said that he couldn’t bear to watch his father Dharmendra’s character perish in the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. In a new interview, he revealed the trick that he used to bring out the necessary emotion in a pivotal scene in his new movie, Animal.

Bobby said that the scene in which his character is informed about his brother’s death, he imagined losing his own brother, Sunny Deol. He told iDream Media that he required only one take to pull the shot off, after which director Sandeep Reddy Vanga came up to him to offer his praise. “When I was doing the scene in the film, it was about a brother who has lost his brother… As actors, we use incidents in our lives to bring that emotion. We have a bank full of them. My brother means the world to me. When I was performing that scene, it was as if I’ve actually lost my brother. And that’s why, when I was emoting, it felt real.”

He continued, “That’s why everybody felt that moment. We didn’t do more than one take. In fact, Sandeep came up to me after that shot, and he was like, ‘Sir, this is an award-winning shot’. I was like, ‘Wow, thank you so much Sandeep, coming from you, it means a lot’.” In an earlier interview, Bobby revealed that his mother couldn’t handle the death of his character in Animal, and became unsettled by it. “My mom couldn’t handle my death scene. She was like, ‘Aisi film mat kiya kar tu, mujhse nahi dekha jaata (You shouldn’t do films like this, I can’t watch them).” I told her, ‘Look, I’m standing in front of you, I just played a part’,” the actor told Pinkvilla.

Bobby has often said that Sunny is like a father to him. All three Deol men, not to mention Abhay Deol, have had an excellent year. While Abhay starred in the acclaimed Netflix series Trial By Fire, Dharmendra’s supporting performance in Rocky Aur Rani was widely appreciated. Sunny then delivered the biggest hit of his career with Gadar 2, and now, Bobby’s Animal is on its way to the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide.
