The parents of late Captain Anshuman Singh, the brave Indian soldier who died while serving his nation in a fire accident in Siachen in July 2023, have been going through a tough time. Last year, they lost their son, and this year, they were left deeply hurt after Anshuman Singh’s wife, Smriti Singh, took away their martyred son’s Kirti Chakra and the money. Now, the father of Captain Anshuman Singh revealed how Smriti was only after their son’s money.

After demanding changes in the Indian Army’s next-to-kin criteria for financial aid to family members in case of a soldier’s death, Ravi Pratap Singh and his wife, Manju Singh, claimed that their daughter-in-law, Smriti, left their home and has been receiving most of the benefits after their son’s death. She has even changed the point of contact of their son in the army’s document. The parents, who were already trying their best to cope with their son’s demise, are facing another trouble in retrieving their son’s Kriti Chakra.

In an interview with ABP News, Captain Anshuman’s father revealed that Smriti never loved their son, and she duped him. The father added that Smriti is planning to flee the country with the award and the money. For those who don’t know, on July 7, 2024, Smriti and her mother-in-law received the second-highest peacetime gallantry award from President, Droupadi Murmu.
Captain Anshuman parents accused daughter of running away with Kirti Chakra
Last week, Captain Anshuman’s parents revealed that their daughter had flown away with the award and she had even changed their son’s phone number. The parents further revealed how their daughter-in-law doesn’t live with them, and their wedding was just five months old. He had said:
“The criteria set to NOK is not correct. I have also spoken to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh about this. Anshuman’s wife doesn’t live with us now, the marriage was just five months old and there is no child. We only have a photo of our son hanging on the wall with a garland on it.”
