In a key meeting held on Tuesday to outline BJP’s poll campaign strategy, Home Minister Amit Shah reassigned the responsibilities to the party’s senior leaders. More than 300 leaders have been asked to monitor parliamentary constituencies. Sources said 146 clusters have been formed and each leader would have three to five constituencies to oversee the party’s electioneering for the Lok Sabha elections. The leaders have been told that the party would have its national council and national executive meeting by mid-February and the Lok Sabha elections could be announced anytime after that.

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), which comes under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, has asked states to celebrate Vasant Panchami (February 14) as ‘Jeev Jantu Kalyan Divas’. In a letter to the states and animal welfare organisations, the AWBI urged them to celebrate ‘Jeev Jantu Kalyan Divas’ with “full enthusiasm” and share photos with it. Last year, the Board had appealed to people to celebrate February 14 as ‘Cow Hug Day’. However, after a backlash, it withdrew the appeal.

Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, whose book, Fertilising the Future: Bharat’s March Towards Fertiliser Self-Sufficiency, was released by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Wednesday, is working on a new book, it is learnt. Mandaviya, who is also Health and Family Welfare Minister, new book is said to be on how India handled the Covid-19. The book will provide a ringside view of the government’s response to the pandemic.
