Delhi Temperature To Cross 47 Degree Mark This Week

The IMD has issued an Orange Alert in the national capital region.

Delhi Weather: While a large part of the country is reeling under a severe heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a separate heatwave warning for Delhi which it said is set to last till 14 June.
Orange Alert In Delhi
The IMD said that between 11 and 14 June, the temperature in Delhi-NCR is likely to touch 47 degrees Celsius. In the wake of the hot temperatures in Delhi, the IMD has issued an Orange Alert in the national capital region.
Earlier on Monday, the maximum temperature in Delhi crossed 43 degrees Celsius, while some areas recorded 43.4 degrees Celsius, which is 3.5 notches above normal.
Delhi Temperature Crosses 46 Degrees Mark
A few areas in Delhi registered a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius, said the IMD. Narela was the hottest at 46.6 degrees Celsius followed by Najafgarh at 46.3 degrees Celsius, Aya Nagar at 44.7 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road at 43.8 degrees Celsius and Palam at 44.1 degrees, reported Hindustan Times.
The weather office said that skies will mostly be clear with heatwave conditions as well as gusty winds that would blow at the speed of 25 to 35 km/h during the day on Tuesday.
Gurugram Heatwave
The IMD on Sunday, 10 June issued a Yellow Alert for Haryana from June 9 to 14 and indicated that Gurugram will experience a heatwave for more than six days beginning Monday, June 10, 2024. On Sunday, Gurugram reported a maximum temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius, which is an increase of 1.9 degrees from the previous day’s 40.8 degrees Celsius.
Westerly winds are bringing hot conditions back to the region, according to an IMD official, indicating that residents should brace for intense heat for at least six days.
Longest-ever Heatwave To Hit India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday, 10 June 2024 that the latest heatwave is the longest-ever to hit the country.
Continuing Heatwave
Several regions in northern India have been enduring a severe heatwave for the past few months, with temperatures climbing above 45 degrees Celsius since mid-May.
