Diljit Dosanjh announces he won’t do shows in India
Singer Diljit Dosanjh has announced that he will not perform in India until the country develops better infrastructure for live concerts. During his Chandigarh show on December 14, Diljit emphasized the importance of proper concert setups, citing how they generate revenue and provide jobs for many. He stated, Here we don’t have infrastructure for live shows. This is a source of big revenue, many people get work and are able to work here.
Diljit also revealed his aspiration for future performances, saying he would prefer a stage set up in the center of the venue so that the audience could surround it. He added, I’ll try next time that the stage is at the centre so that you can be around it. Till this happens, I won’t do shows in India, that’s for sure.
Ahead of his Chandigarh performance, the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) issued an advisory urging the singer to refrain from performing songs promoting alcohol, drugs, or violence. Tracks such as Patiala Peg, 5 Tara, and Case were specifically highlighted.
Diljit’s Indian tour will conclude with a final performance in Guwahati on December 29. The singer’s decision has sparked discussions about the need for improved concert venues and regulations in India.
