HBO has unleashed the second official teaser for its highly anticipated series, Dune: Prophecy. This epic saga, co-produced with Legendary Television, promises to delve deep into the origins of the legendary Bene Gesserit sisterhood, 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise to power. Scheduled for a November premiere on HBO and HBO Max, the series will unfold across six captivating episodes. The teaser, clocking in at just over a minute, offers a tantalizing glimpse into the world before Dune, and a much-awaited first look at Tabu’s captivating portrayal of Sister Francesca.

Dune: Prophecy is a prequel that expands the Dune universe, which was established by Frank Herbert’s visionary novels. This series takes place millennia before the events of the recent critically acclaimed Dune films. The story centers on two Harkonnen sisters who find themselves thrust into a fight for humanity’s very survival. Through their struggles, they lay the foundation for the formidable Bene Gesserit, a secretive organization wielding immense influence throughout the Imperium.
This gripping narrative draws inspiration from Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s novel, “Sisterhood of Dune”. The teaser hints at the challenges and triumphs that await these pioneering sisters. We hear pronouncements about the burden of power and the ever-present enemies that arise with growing influence.
Dune: Prophecy boasts a powerhouse cast that promises to bring Herbert’s world to life. Leading the charge are seasoned actresses Emily Watson and Olivia Williams. They’re joined by Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and Mark Strong.
Adding further depth to the ensemble are Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, and Tabu. Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha round out this impressive cast.
The creative team behind Dune: Prophecy is equally impressive. Award-winning screenwriter Alison Schapker takes the helm as showrunner and executive producer. Diane Ademu-John, who co-developed the series, also serves as an executive producer.
Director Anna Foerster lends her expertise, not only serving as an executive producer but also directing multiple episodes, including the series premiere. The executive producer roster is further bolstered by industry veterans Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts.
Adding a touch of authenticity to the project are New York Times bestselling authors Brian Herbert, Kevin J. Anderson, and the team from the Frank Herbert estate – Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert.
