Veteran actress Shanthi Priya recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, where she delved into her successful career in the South film industry during the 90s and expressed her desire to work in Hindi cinema. In the candid conversation, Priya shared her perspective on the significant role Bollywood played for South Indian artists during that era.

The actress revealed her longing to explore opportunities in the Hindi film industry despite her thriving career down South. She expressed, “Because I am from down South. If you ask the Hindi film industry how they look upon Hollywood movies. So for us South Indian artists, for us, Bollywood is like an international kind of thing. In the 90s’, I always had… and my second language was Hindi.”
As the discussion progressed, the topic shifted to the changing dynamics in the film industry, highlighting the recent surge in audience interest towards South Indian films. Responding to this shift, Shanthi Priya stated, “It’s not more about South Indian movies. It is more about the story content. They are looking out for better content. I think down south is giving them.”
For the unversed, the veteran actress has predominantly worked in Telugu and Tamil. She is widely known for Saugandh and Phool Aur Angaar, among others. She was recently seen in the MX Player series Dharavi Bank. She will be next in the biopic of Sarojini Naidu.
