Exclusive: Fatima Sana Shaikh reveals why she left TV industry
Fatima Sana Shaikh, who began her career as a child artist in Chachi 420 had to go through a period of struggle, despite having worked with several noted stars such as Shah Rukh Khan (One Two Ka Four), Suneil Shetty (Bade Dilwala) and Sanjay Dutt (Khoobsurat). Before coming back to films again, she did quite a few television shows. During an exclusive conversation with Jitesh Pillaai, Editor-in-Chief, Filmfare for In The Ring With Filmfare, the actress opened up on the exploitation she faced in the television industry.
She shared, “It is difficult if you are not the lead actor. If you are the lead actor on whom the show has been sanctioned, then you are the star. You get your first payment either after six weeks or three weeks. So, you work for three months, then you get your salary. After that, every day, you have to go and mark your attendance and say that you were there. If you don’t do that then you won’t get the payment, even if the entire crew knows that you were present. This is how vile they are”. On being asked whether this was the reason she left, Fatima answered affirmatively.
Fatima Sana Shaikh was last seen in the film Sam Bahadur with Vicky Kaushal. She will next be seen in Metro… In Dino and Ul Jalool Ishq.
