EXCLUSIVE: Nosferatu’s costume designer Linda Muir reacts to Oscar nod
The nominations for the 97th Academy Awards are out and it looks like horror films are having a moment. Among the nominees is Linda Muir, the Costume Designer on Robert Eggers’ gothic horror film Nosferatu. Her work on the Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Skarsgard, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson starrer is a masterclass in period dressing.
Filmfare caught up with the ace costume designer right after the Oscar nominations were unveiled. Reacting to the happy news, Muir says, “Well, it’s pretty thrilling and fabulous. It’s the personification of a big kiss for everyone in the costume design department.”
“It’s also for Robert Eggers because we share this with him. He’s such an amazing leader and he brings out the best in everyone,” she adds.
Opening up about working with Eggers, Muir shares further, “It’s rare for a director, an auteur to do so much research in the writing phase. He keeps the reality of the period in mind while writing. He brings all of that information at the very beginning of our collaboration. And what a gift is that!”
Nosferatu is currently in theatres.
