Menaka Irani, the beloved mother of filmmakers Farah Khan and Sajid Khan, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 79. The news of her death comes just days after Farah Khan shared on Instagram that her mother had undergone “multiple surgeries.”
Menaka Irani was not only the mother of the Khan siblings but also the sister of acclaimed child actors Daisy Irani and Honey Irani. She had a brief acting career, appearing in the 1963 film Bachpan alongside her sister Daisy. Reports indicate that Menaka had been struggling with health issues for some time.
The heartbreaking news follows a recent celebration of Menaka’s birthday on July 12, when Farah Khan posted a touching tribute on social media. The post included photos of Farah holding her mother’s hand, reflecting on their strong bond and Menaka’s resilience. Farah’s heartfelt message read, “We all take our mothers for granted… especially me!”
Sajid Khan also shared a photo with his mother on her birthday, expressing his love and wishing her a happy birthday.
