Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Adobe Systems President and CEO Shantanu Narayen, World Bank President Ajay Pal Banga and cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle are among the alumni invited to a fund-raising dinner being hosted by Hyderabad Public School (HPS) on December 24 at Taj Falaknuma Palace.

The school, established in 1923, is celebrating its centenary and is looking to raise Rs 100 crore, which will be used to improve the infrastructure and facilities on the campus.

HPS authorities said the school plans to invest Rs 25 crore over the next few years to create state-of-the-art sports infrastructure and the remaining funds in other areas. Funds already provided by alumni are being used for the development of innovation labs, centers for Artificial Intelligence and the School of Entrepreneurship.

President of Hyderabad Public School Society, Gusti J Noria, an alumnus, said that funds will be leveraged to tap modern pedagogical tools of experiential learning, including AI lab facilities, robotics facilities, multisport complex, provision of scholarship grants, mentorship and entrepreneurship programmes.

The HPS was established by the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan. Some of the other HPS passouts include AIMIM leaders Asaduddin Owaisi, his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, former TDP MP Ashok Gajapati Raju, IPS officer C V Anand, Congress MLA and founder of Visaka Industries G Vivekanand, former Andhra Pradesh CM and cricketer N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Syed Akbaruddin, former permanent representative of India to the UN. Many of these alumni are expected to attend the fund-raising dinner to the help the HPS boost its infrastructure.
