After a flagpole built at a workshop in Ahmedabad for the Ram temple in Ayodhya attracted huge crowds, now, a 108-ft long incense stick is set to be put up for public view between December 17 and 28 in Vadodara before it is dispatched to Ayodhya on a trailer truck as an “offering” to Lord Rama on January 22, the day the temple will be inaugurated.

The incense stick has been prepared by a milk producer in the city. On Saturday, BJP leaders, including MP Ranjan Bhatt, attended an event organised by the Sanatan Dharma and Gaupalak Association to “accept suggestions” from people to make the initiative a success.

City Mayor Pinky Soni, addressing the gathering, suggested that people must wear the “sindoori” (orange) colour on January 22 and that the incense stick is being dispatched from Vadodara to show people’s devotion to Lord Ram.

Grand Welcome

Prime MinisteR Narendra Modi’s visit to Surat to inaugurate the diamond bourse on Sunday is likely to turn into a celebration with a road show organised by the BJP’s Surat unit.

Over 15,000 diamond polishers are scheduled to stand on the roadsides holding flags while the PM’s convoy passes by. BJP MLAs, along with their supporters, too, are to stand on the roadsides at six spots.

Festive offer

In a meeting was organised by state BJP president C R Paatil on Friday evening, it was also decided that rose petals would be sprinkled and dhol played when PM’s convoy passes through the city.
