The Vadodara Fire and Emergency Services (VFES) of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation Sunday stalled the screening of the final match of the Indian Premier League at Polo Ground organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to the “lack of necessary permissions”.

This comes a day after the tragic fire at TRP Game Zone. The IPL Fan Park, which was free for spectators, had a giant screen to watch the match along with other fun activities on the sidelines for the audience. However, it was closed down Sunday after fire officers conducted an inspection and found that the organising agency had allegedly not applied for fire permissions.

“When the fire officers visited Polo Ground, the organisers were unable to show any permissions granted by the fire department. In fact, they had not even applied for a fire NOC for the temporary structure. Hence, the event was stopped to ensure that no untoward tragedy occurs at the event,” VFES officials said.
