Despite initial mixed reactions and concerns about its box office performance, Mahesh Babu’s latest film, Guntur Kaaram, has surpassed expectations. After raking in over Rs 212 crore worldwide within seven days, the movie has achieved commercial success, even exceeding its break-even point.

Guntur Kaaram producer ADMITS having early morning show for Mahesh Babu’s film was “mistake”

In a recent media interaction, producer Naga Vamsi addressed the film’s journey, acknowledging the initial negativity from some sections of the media and fans. However, he emphasizes that the overall audience reception has been overwhelmingly positive, leading Guntur Kaaram to its triumphant box office run.

While admitting the eventual success, Vamsi identifies a crucial miscalculation in the film’s initial rollout. He points out that screening early morning shows for Guntur Kaaram sent the wrong message to fans: “This is a family cinema… a Trivikram film. I’m not comparing them but it was a mistake to release a Trivikram sir film, a mother-son bond film, at 1 am. It was not a good choice.”

He further explains that the film’s title and the unusual early morning time slot led viewers to expect a different genre, one akin to the high-octane action of Prabhas’ Salaar, which was also playing at the time. This mismatch in expectations contributed to the initial disappointment among some audiences.

Speaking of the film, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, this marks the third collaboration between the filmmaker and Mahesh Babu, following their previous blockbusters Athadu and Khaleja.
