On June 8, the Telugu film industry was in for a shock as the industrialist and media baron Ramoji Rao passed away after prolonged illness in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. While many celebrities from the industry including superstars like Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Allu Arjun, and others shared their condolence messages, the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi also mourned the demise and expressed the same in a heartfelt message on social media.

Honorable PM Narendra Modi addressed the late Ramoji Rao as a ‘visionary’ and applauded his contribution to the Indian film industry and also in the field of journalism. Sharing a photo of his interaction with the late Rao, Mr. Modi also penned a heartfelt message in Telugu which loosely translated to, “The death of Mr. Ramoji Rao is very sad. He was a visionary who brought revolutionary changes in Indian media. His services left an indelible mark in the fields of cinema and journalism. Through his tireless efforts, he has set new standards for excellence in the worlds of media and entertainment.” He continued, “Ramoji Rao was very enthusiastic about the development of India. I was fortunate to have many opportunities to interact with him and benefit from his vast knowledge. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and countless fans at this time of sorrow. Om peace.”

Ramoji Rao, who is survived by his wife and son, passed away after being diagnosed with respiratory issues and high blood pressure. He was admitted to the hospital in Hyderabad on June 5 but eventually succumbed to his ailments on June 8. His funeral was held in the Andhra Pradesh capital on Saturday and it was attended by many dignitaries and Indian celebrities like S.S. Rajamouli and M.M. Keeravani.
