Who was Carl Webb?

Carved from the red dust of Queensland’s Mount Isa, Carl Webb (1981-2023) is one  NRL write that carved his name in stone. A fearsome prop, second-row and lock.

An Indigenous Australian power house, he wore the jerseys of the Brisbane Broncos,  North Queensland Cowboys and Parramatta Eels before his fight against Motor  Neurone Disease was tragically cut short.

MND, also known as Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive neurological disorder  which afflicts muscles and movement. This results in muscle weakness, speech  disorders, and breathing problems. There is unfortunately no remedy, and treatment  consists of managing the symptoms for a more comfortable life.

In early 2020, 39-year-old Carl Webb was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease  (MND). While battling the disease, he passed away four years later.

As a formidable rugby league player, Webb himself had endured many hardships. He  trained with three teams-the Brisbane Broncos, North Queensland Cowboys, and  Parramatta Eels-but was suspended and missed finals several times because of on the-field incidents. 

Carl Webb’s Legal Issues 

Outside of playing, Webb had also got into legal trouble. In 2012 he was fined for  assault and in 2014 he was under investigation for domestic violence. Both charges  were eventually dropped.

Webb’s personal relationship is still relatively unknown. It is also said that he had two  wives during his lifetime. Little is known about these relationships and how long they  last.

Details of Webb’s last hours are naturally sparse. Before his demise on Thursday night,  reports said he had been spending time at his Dalby home with family.
