India weather update: Parts of North India receives fresh snowfall; dense layer of fog prevails over Delhi | India News

Several parts of Jammu and Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Monday as crowds in Rajouri and Srinagar cheered outside their homes.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate and isolated to scattered rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Monday and Tuesday.

About 475 roads were blocked, and electricity and water supply were disrupted due to snowfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh, news agency ANI reported.

An isolated thunderstorm accompanied by a hailstorm is also likely over Sikkim on Monday, the IMD stated.

In Delhi, several flight operations were delayed as dense to very dense fog prevailed over parts of the national capital, ANI reported. Parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Rajasthan too witnessed dense fog conditions, as of 5.30 am on Monday.

Visibility plunged below 200 metres, with Jaisalmer recording a visibility of 200 metres, Ganganagar that of 25 metres and Amritsar that of 100 metres.
