MARATHA ACTIVIST Manoj Jarange-Patil on Thursday once again attacked minister and OBC leader Chhagan Bhujbal, calling him ‘untrustworthy’ and asked the state government not to pay heed to his demands.
”The state government is dancing to his (Bhujbal’s) tunes…Devendra Fadnavis should understand his game plan,” Jarange-Patil told reporters in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, where he is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The activist said the government was listening to Bhujbal and changing its stance as the minister is putting pressure on the government to withdraw the cases against him. “The government is buckling under his pressure because Bhujbal wants to get all cases against him withdrawn. He is making false allegations against Marathas. He is misleading the government and government is doing injustice to the Maratha community by listenting to him. If the government listens to Bhujabl, we will not keep quiet,” he said.
Accusing Bhujbal of being casteist, Bhujbal said, “Bhujbal does not declare his stance about the Dhangar agitation…despite occupying constitutional post, he speaks against Maratha reservation.”
Emphasising that Marathas were not involved in torching properties of leaders in Beed district, the activist said,”I request Fadnavis not to pay attention to him. Marathas were not involved in torching properties in Beed. Even leaders Prakash Solanke and Shirsagar have made it clear that Marathas were not involved. He (Bhujbal) had acted in a movie and now he is bring that character in politics.”
Urging Dhangar and OBC community not to misunderstand Marathas, Jarange-Patil said,”I want to tell the OBC and Dhangar communities that the entry of Marathas into OBC category will not affect their quota of reservation. In every village of Maharashtra, we are living peacefully and we should continue in the same vein.”
Underlining that Marathas were not against the progress of OBC community, Jarange-Patil said, ”He (Bhujbal) has demanded that like Sarathi and Annasaheb Patil Arthik Vikas Mahamandal, OBCs should also get concessons, funds…There should be parity among castes…He is stooping very low.”
While emphasising that Maratha community will get reservation by December 24, Jarange-Patil said, ”We will decide our future course of action, if the government does not grant Maratha reservation, at a meeting of Maratha volunteers, activisits, professionals from different fields, experts and historians at Antarwali-Saraati in Jalna on December 17. We will plan another agitation which will be a peaceful one but a much bigger one.”
”I will not impose my views on the community. I don’t do anything without consulting the community. And therefore, the direction which the agitation will take will be decided by the community members,” he added.
On being asked why is he planning to hold a meeting even before the state government takes a call on Maratha reservation, Jarange-Patil said some adverse events have forced them to call a meeting on December 17.
”Some events have made us lose trust in the government. For instance, the government had said that they will not arrest people from Antarwali-Saraati but they have arrested. The government had said that they will withdraw cases against agitators, that has also not happened.” said Jarange-Patil.
