On Sunday, the much-anticipated trailer for Kanguva was finally unveiled. Previous teasers and promotional content had hinted at a dual-timeline narrative, and the trailer subtly builds on this concept, juxtaposing Suriya’s role as a fierce warrior in a bygone era with a parallel arc set in the present. Originally scheduled for an earlier release, the trailer dropped at 9 pm after a series of postponements, adding to the suspense.
In its brief 1-minute-30-second runtime, the trailer keeps the storyline shrouded in mystery, revealing just enough to intrigue audiences. The phrase, “In the land of promises and power, a prophecy unfolds,” flashes on screen, hinting at a tale steeped in destiny and foreshadowing. The words “betrayal,” “resurrection,” and “honour” suggest a narrative driven by vengeance and the pursuit of justice.
With a staggering estimated budget of over Rs. 350 crores, Kanguva is shot across seven countries and diverse terrains in India, and is set in a prehistoric era, a unique backdrop that sets it apart from other period films. To ensure authenticity and visual grandeur, the production team brought in Hollywood experts to lead technical departments, especially in action choreography and cinematography.
One of the film’s standout moments is its epic war sequence, which includes over 10,000 extras—adding to the monumental effort behind the scenes. Studio Green has partnered with top distribution houses to bring Kanguva to audiences on a grand, international scale, with its release slated for November 14, 2024.
