Labourer killed in major fire at paper godown in Delhi’s Shakarpur area | Delhi News

A major fire broke out around 1 am on Wednesday at a paper godown in New Delhi’s Shakarpur area and a labourer who lived on its premises was killed in the incident, police said.
According to the police, eight fire-tenders took six to seven hours to bring the blaze at Bhumi Trading Company under control. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained.

During the subsequent inspection of the site, the charred remains of Satender Paswan, 45, the deceased labourer, were discovered near the staircase in the godown.
Authorities have summoned experts from the BSES power discom and the chief electrical inspectorate to examine the site. A team specialising in crime and forensics will also conduct an inspection to determine the cause of the fire.
The property, a 100 square yards plot comprising a ground floor and two rooms on the first floor, is owned by Munna Kumar, who operated the paper godown.
Satender Paswan, also known as Pauua, is the son of Sukhdev Paswan and hailed from Sirsa village in Bihar’s Nalanda district.
The police have initiated legal proceedings, with an FIR being registered against Munna Kumar, 45.
