Kadu Vs Amit Shah over rally ground in Amravati

Amaravati is witnessing a row over the venue of the rally of Union Minister Amit Shah and Prahar party leader and MLA Bachchu Kadu. Kadu is a part of the ruling alliance but his party is contesting the Lok Sabha elections. While the BJP is claiming it had booked the ground, Kadu said it was originally booked by his party and the administration is using force to make way for Shah’s rally. Now, Kadu is refusing to give up the ground and has put the local administration in a tight spot.

Suspense over Nashik seat continues

The NCP on Tuesday said it has not given up its claim on Nashik Lok Sabha constituency even after its MLA and minister Chhagan Bhujbal opted out of the race to contest election from here. NCP Spokesperson and former MP Anand Paranjape said the party has a strong base in Nashik and hence, they will continue to stake claim on the seat.

“Devidas Pingle from the party was elected in 2004 and Sameer Bhujbal was the MP in 2009. At present, we have three MLAs in the Lok Sabha constituency. Therefore, our claim stays,” said Paranjape. He further said a consensus has been reached that despite the Satara Lok Sabha constituency going to the BJP, the NCP will be getting an additional Rajya Sabha seat. The BJP has announced Udayanraje Bhosle as its candidate from Satara seat, which was previously contested by the undivided NCP.

Politicans turning wedding venues as poll campaign site

The onset of summer also means wedding season in rural Maharashtra. Not surprisingly, political parties are using the wedding venues to push their campaigns. A local BJP minister from North Maharashtra shared his experience, “Every wedding held in our constituency provides us the platform to make our presence felt and subtly convey our message.” The only drawback, he said, is that people expect the leaders to make a speech and it becomes weary and time consuming. But as the saying goes, you cannot afford to ignore people. Certainly, not in times of polls.
