Mammootty’s new year gift to fans: His never-seen-before avatar in horror movie Bramayugam | Malayalam News

2024 has dawned and Malayalam megastar Mammootty is poised to dominate the scene for yet another year, after captivating audiences with his compelling film choices and powerful performances in 2023.

Kicking off the year on a high note, Mammootty has unveiled a new poster from his upcoming movie Bramayugam, showcasing him in a never-seen-before avatar, intensifying the anticipation surrounding the film. Similar to the first look poster released a few months ago, the latest one also maintains a monochromatic theme but offers a different perspective on the actor’s character.

In the new poster, Mammootty’s character is adorned with a crown reminiscent of those worn by practitioners of the ancient folk ritual art form of Theyyam, complete with attached horns and makeup suggesting that he transcends normal human existence.

Helmed by Rahul Sadasivan, who gained recognition with his debut work Bhoothakaalam, Bramayugam is a full-fledged horror film deeply rooted in the dark ages of Kerala. The film’s tagline, “the age of madness,” further underscores its eerie premise.

Sharing the latest poster, Mammootty extended his New Year wishes to all his fans. Produced jointly by Night Shift Studios and YNot Studios, Bramayugam also features Arjun Ashokan, Sidharth Bharathan, and Amalda Liz in prominent roles, with Shehnad Jalal serving as the director of photography, Shafique Mohammed Ali as the editor, and Christo Xavier as the music composer.

Festive offer

At the commencement of the film’s production, which concluded in October, Rahul expressed his elation, stating, “I am elated to be living the dream of directing the stalwart Mammookka. Bramayugam is a rooted story set in the dark ages of Kerala, and I am glad to be backed by the producers in pushing the boundaries of making this into an immersive film experience. I hope it will be a treat to Mammookka’s fans and fans of the genre across the world.”

While there are unconfirmed reports circulating that the film will hit screens in February, the exact release date remains uncertain. Apart from its original Malayalam version, the movie will also be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages as well.
