The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will launch a modified module of Sahbhagita scheme on Saturday, January 6, that provides incentives to residents’ welfare associations and group housing societies regarding tax compliance and waste management.

The municipal corporation is celebrating January 6 as Sahbhagita Diwas and the entire month as the Month of Sahbhagita.

The module is modified with an aim to encourage all registered residents’ associations and group housing societies under Sahbhagita scheme by March 31, so as to make them self-reliant, the MCD said.

The scheme allows the associations and housing societies to claim 10 per cent incentive on 90 per cent tax compliance and an additional 5 per cent incentive on waste segregation and processing.

Earlier the residents’ welfare associations could only receive tax exemptions up to Rs 1 lakh, but now the cap has been removed.

Festive offer

“Under this scheme, an additional 5 per cent wet waste disposal incentive will be given to residents’ welfare associations, housing societies and educational institutions that have an area of 10 acres and above subject to 90 per cent tax collection compliance and for following compliance to proper waste management rules under the scheme,” the civic body said.

It stated that the additional incentive will be given on implementing the 100 per cent waste segregation at the source, composting of wet waste in the colony/society/educational institution, complete recycling of recyclable dry waste and handing over of the remaining dry waste to the MCD or its authorised agencies.
