Microsoft to discontinue Paint 3D on Windows, will remove it from store on November 4 | Technology News
In 2016, Microsoft introduced a new app called Paint 3D which works alongside the old trusty Paint app from the Windows 98 era. While the new app was to replace the classic Paint, the tech giant recently announced that it will be discontinuing Paint 3D and removing it from the Microsoft Store.
Designed to enable users to create and edit 3D models, the decision to remove dopes did not come as a surprise as a few years ago, Microsoft removed Paint 3D from the list of pre-installed apps on Windows in 2021. Several Paint 3D users are now seeing a banner on the top of the app which states Microsoft will deprecate the app starting November 4.

While the app no longer ships with Windows, it could be downloaded from the Microsoft Store for free irrespective of whether you use Windows 10 or Windows 11. However, the app did struggle to establish a user base, with many Windows users sticking to the classic version of Paint that still has millions of users worldwide.
In the last few months, Microsoft has shifted its focus on the classic Paint app, which has received several updates and new AI-powered features that can help you generate an image from scratch and remove the background.
The company also announced that Paint 3D would no longer be available for download on the Microsoft Store from November 4 and that it will stop supporting the app after that date. Paint 3D will soon be joining the Mail and Calendar app that comes preinstalled on Windows.
