Senior Congress leader and former Lok Sabha MP Milind Deora is likely to quit the party to join one of the three parties in ruling alliance of Maharashtra.
Deora, who has lost two successive Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 2019 to Shiv Sena’s Arvind Sawant, has expressed unhappiness over the possibility of Mumbai South seat going to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena in the Maha Vikas Aghadi seat sharing arrangements.

In a recently released video, Deora had advised his supporters and workers to remain calm and asked Sena to not stake claim on any Lok Sabha constituency unless it is finalised in the seat sharing talks. He had said that his family, including his deceased father Murli Deora, have served the constituency for over 40 years.
According to sources, Deora is also likely to visit World Economic Forum summit at Davos in Switzerland along with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
He was particularly unhappy over the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena and Aaditya Thackeray for kickstarting the poll campaign in Mumbai from Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency and claiming that Sawant will be the candidate in 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
When contacted, Deora refused to comment on the ongoing speculations and said that he was going to meet his workers and sympathisers throughout Saturday.
Sources within Mumbai Congress too are clueless about the next move of Deora, but accepted that a large chunk of leaders from south Mumbai is supporting him.
A few months ago, it was rumoured that Deora might join Ajit Pawar-led breakaway faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) amid rumours of the meeting between him and Rajya Sabha MP Praful Patel.
Then, Deora had denied all the speculations and said that he will be part of the Congress.
In a recently announced office bearers of All Indian Congress Committee (AICC), Deora was made the joint -treasurer.
