MUDA scam: Confident of relief from Court, says Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah ahead of writ petition hearing | Bangalore News
Ahead of the hearing of a writ petition filed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah against the prosecution sanction granted against him by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot in the Karnataka High Court, the CM on Monday said he was ‘fully confident’ that the Court would grant him relief.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said that the writ petition has sought interim relief and quashing of the prosecution sanction order issued by the Governor. Senior lawyer and former Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi will argue the case on his behalf, the CM added.
The prosecution sanction by the Governor was based on three private complaints filed against Siddaramaiah alleging irregularities in sites allotted by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to his wife in exchange for the land ‘encroached’ by the agency to develop layouts.
“We are fully confident that the Court will give us relief. Because I have not committed any mistake. My conscience is very clear,” he told reporters.
“In 40 years of my political career, there is no black mark. It is like an open book. Everyone knows that. People of the state know that. I have not committed any mistake, nor will I,” he added.
He accused the BJP, the JD(S), and the Central government of using the Raj Bhavan to hatch a politically motivated conspiracy, which he said he would face both “legally and politically”.
According to Siddaramaiah, the Opposition parties were targeting him because they were afraid of him being pro-poor. “They are under the illusion that by finishing Siddaramaiah politically, they will finish the Congress. This will not succeed,” he added.
