Mumbai Rains: Flight Ops Hit; SpiceJet, Indigo Issue Advisory; Vistara Flights Diverted

Flight operations were suspended at the Mumbai International Airport in wake of heavy rains and dust storms even as budget airlines Indigo and Spicejet issued an advisory for their passengers while several flights of Vistara were diverted due to the inclement weather.

Mumbai Rains: Flights operations were suspended at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai for around 30 minutes amid heavy rains and gusty winds accompanied by dust storms which lashed the city on Tuesday.

According to officials, take off and landing operations were suspended for 30 minutes at the Mumbai International Airport in wake of heavy rains and dust storms even as budget airlines Indigo and Spicejet issued an advisory for their passengers while several flights of Vistara were diverted due to the inclement weather.

“The dust storm has returned, this time over Mumbai. Potential air traffic congestion is expected, so keep a tab on your flight status https://bit.ly/3DNYJqj Plan your journey to the airport accordingly and have a safe trip,” Indigo wrote on its official X handle.

SpiceJet, another budget-carrier, also issued an advisory for its passengers stating, “Due to
bad weather in Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via https://bit.ly/2tG9xBx.”

  • Visit https://book.spicejet.com/FlightStatus.aspx
  • Choose your origin airport and destination airport from the dropdown list
  • Choose date from the dropdown menu
  • Enter the flight number mentioned in your booking
  • Click “Find”
  • The status of your flight will be displayed on the screen

Meanwhile, several Mumbai-bound flights of Vistara airline were diverted due to the inclement weather.

In a series of posts on X, Vistara informed its passengers about the status of its flights which were diverted due to bad weather in Mumbai.

Here’s the list of Mumbai-bound Vistara flights diverted to other places:

  • Vistara flight UK272 from Male to Mumbai (MLE-BOM) was diverted to Goa (GOX) and to arrived in Goa at 1720 hours.
  • Jaipur-Mumbai (JAI-BOM) flight UK562 has also been diverted to Goa (GOX) due to bad weather at Mumbai airport and was expected to arrive in Goa at 1720 hours.
  • Coimbatore to Mumbai (CJB-BOM) Flight UK522 has been diverted to Ahmedabad (AMD) due to bad weather at Mumbai airport and was expected to arrive in Ahmedabad at 1735 hours.
  • Vistara flight UK620 from Dehradun to Mumbai (DED-BOM) has been diverted to Vadodara (BDQ) due to bad weather and arrived in Vadodara (BDQ) at 1745 hours.

Heavy rainfall, accompanied by dust storms, gusty winds and lightning, lashed Mumbai, Thane and other adjoining areas on Monday afternoon, bringing relief to citizens from the scorching temperatures.
