‘My Hard-Working Friend’: Outgoing CM Chouhan’s First Reaction After Mohan Yadav’s Appointment

Governor Mangubhai Patel invited Mohan Yadav to form a government in the state and handed over a letter about his appointment as the next chief minister

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday met and congratulated his ‘hard-working’ friend Mohan Yadav, who is Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) pick for the chief ministerial post.

Chouhan met Yadav at his residence in Bhopal and presented him with flowers to congratulate his successor on his appointment. The video of their meeting went viral on social media.

In the video, Yadav, whose name was reportedly suggested by Chouhan himself for the top post, touches the former CM’s feet to seek blessings after the good news.

Chouhan also posted a congratulatory note for his successor on X, formerly Twitter, where he called Yadav, a hardworking man and said he was confident that Yadav would set new records in the field of public welfare” under the “guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

“Hearty congratulations to hardworking fellow Shri Mohan Yadav ji on being nominated as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in the BJP Legislative Party meeting. I am confident ‍ that under the able guidance of respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, you will take Madhya Pradesh to new heights of progress and development and will create new records in the field of public welfare. Many congratulations and best wishes for this new responsibility!” Chouhan said in a post on X.

Mohan Yadav, the BJP MLA from Ujjain South, will be the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, where the saffron outfit has retained power after the recently concluded assembly polls.

58-year-old Yadav is an OBC leader,  who was elected as the BJP’s legislature party leader in Madhya Pradesh at a meeting in Bhopal held in the evening in the presence of central observers.

He was serving as minister for higher education in the outgoing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s cabinet.

Later, Governor Mangubhai Patel invited Yadav to form a government in the state and handed over a letter about his appointment as the next chief minister, an official said.

The Governor, after accepting the resignation of outgoing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, handed over a letter to Yadav appointing him as the new CM.
