No differences between new and old guard in TMC: Abhishek | Kolkata News

Trinamool Congress (TMC) second-in-command Abhishek Banerjee Sunday said there were no differences between the old guard and the young leaders in the party.

The remarks of the Diamond Harbour MP, the nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, come amid a war of words between veterans and youth leaders of the party over future leadership. The controversy erupted after Mamata last year advocated giving due respect to senior members.

Abhishek told party workers in Diamond Harbour: “In the last few days, there have been reports of differences between the old and new members of the party. The party remains united under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.”

The TMC national general secretary, however, also batted for an upper age limit. “Yes, I had said that a person loses his ability to work once he gets old. In the next twenty years, I will lose my ability to work a little.”
