Nora Fatehi Recalls Hearing Taunts When She Started Out, ‘You Want To Be The Next Katrina Kaif?’
Nora Fatehi, best recognized for her killer dance moves in some of Bollywood’s most popular songs, didn’t have an easy journey in the industry. The actress recently opened up about struggling for years before getting her big break. In the midst of the same, Nora was approached by several shady people who wanted to take advantage of those in a vulnerable position like herself.

Nora Fatehi’s journey in B-town has been anything but easy. In a recent interview with Rajeev Masand at IIFM, Melbourne, she opened up about the same. Nora revealed that people would ask her if she wanted to be the next Katrina Kaif like her dream was impossible to achieve.
Nora’s experiences even led her to seek therapy. The actress revealed that she faced so much rejection and was told she was not good enough so many times that it took a severe toll on her mental health. Nora further stated that she has quite a thick skin, but her time in Bollywood as a newcomer was still very hard to handle.
Nora Fatehi opens up about getting ‘scary situations’ because of shady people when she first started out
According to Nora, she came across many ‘weirdos’ who wanted to take advantage of newcomers like her when she first started out. Such people would make tall promises about getting her in contact with major production houses. As she was still new back then, Nora would believe them and follow them around. This often led her into truly ‘scary situations,’ but over time, she has learned how to deal with such people.
Nora Fatehi reveals that moving to Mumbai from Canada as a Moroccan made things even trickier
Nora Fatehi spoke about an added challenge she faced as a Morrocan who had moved to Mumbai from Canada. She had no idea if she was even talking to the correct people as she was only 22 at the time, and almost everyone she met would promise to help her.
Speaking about how she would deal with the situation had she possessed the wisdom she does now, Nora said she would be more wary. In her words:
“Now, I would be like ‘Why am I coming with you? What do you want from me? Clearly, nobody does anything for free but at that time, I was like ‘god sent this person to me’ and I followed a lot of idiots.”
Nora Fatehi recalls fighting people who helped her with expectations of getting something in return
Nora Fatehi further opened up about scary situations wherein people helped her with the expectation of getting something in return. They would introduce her to the right people and then demand things from her. She said:
“It put me in really scary situations where, in the end, the person would be like ‘C’mon, what am I going to get out of this?’ and that led me into these scary situations where I either had to fight that person or it was really weird…”
Following such experiences, Nora realized that she could never reveal that she was ‘desperate’ for an opportunity. Talking about how she changed her approach, the actress said:
“That taught me not to be desperate, not to give desperate vibes because the minute you give desperate vibes, people will really use that to their advantage. So I stopped telling people I really want to act. I started to change my words and I would be like ‘yeah, I would love to but if it doesn’t work out, I can go back home and finish university and be a lawyer’.”
